Why does the point move?

Our number system is based on **powers of 10**. When you divide by 10, each digit in the number becomes 10 times smaller. In terms of position, this looks like the decimal point moving to the left.
The “Hidden” Decimal

Dividing by 10
To divide a number by 10, shift the decimal point one place to the left. If the number ends in zero, simply remove it.
