Order of Operations – Grade 5 (Short Info for Exam)
The order of operations shows us the correct sequence to solve mathematical expressions. It helps everyone reach the same answer.
We usually follow these steps:
- Parentheses ( ) – Solve inside first
- Multiplication and Division – From left to right
- Addition and Subtraction – From left to right
This rule is also called PEMDAS:
- P: Parentheses

- A: Addition
- S: Subtraction
Example:
8 + 4 × 2 = 8 + 8 = 16
(First multiply, then add.)
