- About the Decimal Number Ordering Activity
Overview
This activity is an interactive educational tool specifically designed to help 4th or 5th graders understand and learn the concept of comparing and ordering decimal numbers. Thanks to the drag-and-drop system, students can practice determining the relative values of numbers with varying numbers of decimal places.
- Learning Objectives
To understand the place value of decimal numbers (tenths, hundredths, thousandths).
To compare decimal numbers with different numbers of digits after the decimal point.
To order decimal numbers in both ascending (smallest to largest) and descending (largest to smallest) order.
- How to Play
Observe the Mode: Check the indicator at the top to see if you need to order from smallest to largest (using the < symbol) or from largest to smallest (using the > symbol).
Drag and drop a number card from the “Available Numbers” pool at the bottom and place it in one of the empty slots at the top.
Rearrange: You can swap cards between slots or move them back to the pool if you change your mind.
Check Your Work: Once all slots are filled, click the green “Check Answer” button.
Try it out.
New Numbers: Click the “New Numbers” button at any time to refresh the set and change the sorting mode.
