Number Patterns Grade 6 Examples

Number Patterns – 6th Grade

Number patterns are sequences of numbers that increase or decrease according to a specific rule. Sixth-grade students learn to recognize, explain, and continue these patterns.

For example:
1, 3, 5, 7, … this pattern continues by adding 2 each time.

10, 7, 4, 1, … this pattern continues by subtracting 3 each time.

Understanding number patterns helps students develop logical thinking skills and prepares them for algebra.

Example:
3, 6, 12, 24, … → multiply by 2 each time

Number patterns are an important step toward learning more advanced mathematical concepts. A test on number patterns provides several important benefits for sixth-grade students:

It helps students practice identifying the rules (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) in patterns.

Students who take this test develop logical thinking and problem-solving skills.
They learn to predict the next terms in a sequence more quickly and accurately.
It reinforces understanding by allowing them to apply what they have learned to different types of questions.

It prepares students for algebra topics in later grades.

In general, these types of tests make students more confident and fluent in working with patterns.
